Ron Sabbagh, M.D.
Dr. Ron Sabbagh (pronounced Sa-ba) is of Syrian and Italian descent, a heritage not uncommon in his native Brooklyn, New York. A product of the Brooklyn Catholic school system, his interests in science and engineering, along with hard work and a healthy lifestyle, helped him to obtain a degree in Natural Sciences and Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 1986.
In 1993, Dr. Sabbagh graduated with honors from Georgetown University Medical School. As a result of his academic achievements and community service, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He excelled in his internship and residency, training in Orthopedic Surgery at Union Memorial Hospital, Johns Hopkins Hospital, and at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center. From there, he completed his Fellowship in Spinal Reconstructive Surgery at the Scoliosis and Spine Center of Towson, Maryland. He became a board certified orthopedic Surgeon in July of 2001. He is also an active participant in the North American Spine Society and American Medical Association and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery in 2003.
Dr. Sabbagh met his wife, Joy, while in training in Baltimore. Joy, a critical care registered nurse, was born and raised in Baltimore, with strong family ties to Lewes and the Rehoboth Beach area. Together they have two daughters, Marcella and Noelle.
Dr. Sabbagh is the only Fellowship-trained spine surgeon in southern Delaware. He specializes in neck and back surgery, including spinal fusions, discectomies, and spinal instrumentation.
